A retail barcode encodes one number and nothing else. That number — a GTIN — is what a checkout looks up, so the barcode has to be the right symbology for where the product is sold, and it has to carry a valid check digit. This generator handles both, and renders the result as vector SVG so it stays sharp at any print size.
UPC-A is the twelve-digit format used at retail in North America. EAN-13 is its thirteen-digit international equivalent, and EAN-8 is the compressed version for packaging too small to carry a full symbol. ITF-14 encodes the shipping-container number on outer cases rather than on consumer units, which is why it is usually printed with bearer bars — the heavy rule around the symbol that stops a scanner misreading a partial scan on corrugated board.
Everything renders on your device with JsBarcode. The number you type is never sent to us, which is also why there is no limit on how many you make.
How to use it

Pick the symbology
UPC-A for North American retail, EAN-13 internationally, EAN-8 for small packaging, ITF-14 for shipping cases.

Enter the digits
Type the number without spaces. The generator tells you immediately if the length or check digit is wrong, rather than producing a symbol that will not scan.

Set the appearance
Toggle the human-readable digits, change the bar and background colours, and turn on bearer bars for ITF-14 cases.

SVG for artwork, PNG for a quick placement, PDF for handing to a printer. Vector output means no resolution to get wrong.
What this will not do
- This renders a barcode from a number you already have. It does not issue GTINs — those are licensed from GS1, and printing a number you do not own will not scan correctly at a retailer.
- A barcode is static by nature: the number is the bars. If you need something you can repoint after printing, that is a dynamic QR code, not a barcode.
- ITF-14 is generated using ITF encoding. Confirm the check digit against your own GS1 records before committing a case print run.
