reRoute vs Short.io

Short.io deserves credit for the thing most of this market gets wrong: Pro includes unlimited links and does not meter destination edits, which is also how reRoute works. What separates the two is the price — $15 a month billed annually against $3.99 — and what each vendor puts in writing: Short.io does not publish Pro’s seat count or analytics retention, so those cannot be compared before you buy. Every number below links to the source it came from.

The short version

If you already run Short.io and it does what you need, the structural argument for switching is thinner here than against Bitly — no meter traps to escape. The case is simpler: the same unlimited links and edits at roughly a quarter of the price, with seat count and analytics retention stated on the pricing page rather than left unpublished, plus unlimited free static QR codes generated in your browser before you pay anything.

Fair questions

Is reRoute a drop-in replacement for Short.io?
For shortlinks, QR codes, scan analytics and device or country routing, yes — export your links to CSV and import them. Links on Short.io-hosted domains stay with Short.io, since no provider can transfer another provider's domain. A custom domain you own can be pointed at reRoute on the Enterprise plan.
Short.io also has unlimited links. What is actually different?
Three things you can verify. Price: $15 a month billed annually against $3.99. Published terms: reRoute states its seat count (5 on Pro) and analytics retention (life of the account) on the pricing page, while Short.io publishes neither for Pro, so you cannot compare before buying. And the free tier: reRoute generates unlimited static QR codes in your browser with no account at all.
Why does 'not published' matter?
Because you are pricing a subscription against unknowns. If analytics retention turns out to be short, or the seat count turns out to be one, the effective price changes after you have committed. We would rather compete on terms both sides put in writing — which is also why every figure on this page links to its source.
What happens to my links if reRoute disappears?
A fair question for any newer vendor. Use your own domain on Enterprise, so the links are yours regardless of who runs the redirect, and export your links and scan history to CSV whenever you like — no support ticket needed.

Try it before you switch anything

The QR generator is free and needs no account. Make one, scan it, see how it feels. Import your Short.io CSV whenever you are ready.
